Birthday Celebration- Flying Trapeze and Killer Workout

I. am. OLDER! ;P
I just had my birthday and I wanted to get in some special activities to celebrate.

Saturday I wanted to do something different but I’ve already done sky diving, bungee jumping, all that stuff…so my brilliant client suggested flying trapeze! And so it was set. I actually, though, didn’t anticipate the true terror it would inspire during the act. I booked Trapeze Arts in Oakland to teach me and 3 other girl friends in an hour long session. It’s actually quite impressive how much we accomplished as utter newbies in that one hour! I will say, though, it did come with many screams and curse words. It was truly scary. But I don’t regret doing it. Here I am, doing what they call “The Catch” …Not bad for my first time, eh!?

Then after that we went to Korea-town and had some noms, and then at night had some people over. Sunday the boo and I chilled, and Monday I had in store my BIRTHDAY WORKOUT. (This was my actual birthday.) I had hired Kelby, a colleague at Evolution Trainers, to teach a group fitness class in my honor, and include my favorite things. It was so awesome! That was probably the hardest workout I’ve had in….I can’t even remember? Over a year?! I was dying. But a good dying.

We did a VipR warm up then did a “shadow” agility drill and another jogging/agility drill. Then we did a killer circuit of heavy deadlifts, bodyweight pull ups with varying grips, sprints, and TRX rows. After three times through, I was a sweaty dripping mess, chest heaving, panting, dying, happy… We continued on to different animal crawls.

Kelby didn’t take much video but he did capture this one exercise where we had to do cartwheels in place, whereby you do a cartwheel and then as fast as you can dash back to the original starting position and do another cartwheel…Then after that we did some upper body reaction and core/shoulder stabilization games where we had to shoot the sandbell to the partner (both in the video…already so tired mind you 😉

….and we did some sandbell tosses while seated for core…then we played different games of tag…it was so hard…but so much fun….

then it was work as usual the rest of the day.

Thanks to everyone who made my birthday festivities so awesome.

Love and Lunges,
Kristina
