I SURVIVEDDDDD WOOOOOO. At 10 AM, I took Pro Luta Livre. Fun! Then at 4 PM I took wrestling. Fun! Then at 6 PM I took MMA. Fun! And I tapped my first person in Brazil! Then at 7 PM I took Luta Livre. Fun! I can’t believe I made it through 4 classes in one day, and I felt great!

Thurs Jan 28, 2016

Today I took Pro MMA at 10 AM. I meant to go back at night but I ate something that didn’t sit well in my stomach, so guess it was meant to only take one class today..

Sat Jan 30, 2016

Feel my energy waning, so I determined I need two rest days (Sat + Sun). I didn’t set an alarm, and woke up at 1040 AM!!! Whoa… hung out with Matt Kerr, a guy from New Zealand who I had met in Thailand in 2010 at Tiger Muay Thai. I had posted on FB that I was in Rio, and he responded that he was also in Rio!!! So we linked up for beach and churrascaria. Then I had a random Tinder date with a Brazilian guy, and we just had tea/cappuccino and walked around.

AM: Pro Luta Livre

PM: MMA Starter + Luta Livre

Tues Feb 2, 2016

AM: MMA Starter + Muay Thai

I was really pissed off last night. I had taken too much caffeine at night, so I was up all night. I couldn’t frikkin sleep. There were new girls in my room in my hostel from Chile, and one stupida left her fucking phone locked in her locker, and went out, and her alarm was going off at 11:30 PM at night and wouldn’t stop. And by the way I don’t think I told you there is a swinger’s club next door that plays music all night long : / So I was irritated by that, in addition to my insomnia. Then the Chilean girls came back to the room, and fucking TURNED OFF THE AC. I was broiling all night long, laying on top of my covers, sweating. I couldn’t sleep. So at 7 AM I got up and decided to take the AM MMA starter class, and see if I was going to be alive to take the Muay Thai class. In the MMA Starter class, we basically just worked a little bit on leg locks, and it was kinda tough for me, since I’m not familiar with them, so I kind of sucked getting into position with them and stuff, but all good. Luta livre is all about the quick leg locks, the chokes, and the kimuras IMO! That’s been my experience on the receiving end of the submissions, at least 😉

And I stuck around for the Muay Thai class and had a great time just working basic combinations like jab, left hook, right kick, right cross, left knee….

At the end of class I was dripping, like always.

I mean, it’s hot as fuck anyway. And the classroom where all my classes have been held is on the top floor, and I swear to you as your ascend the staircase it just grows warmer and warmer like a sauna. As I was even SITTING MOTIONLESS waiting for the first class to start, beads of sweat were piling all over my skin….and at the END of class…for you people who may not have been in situations like this….(hi MOM!)….you might be ASTONISHED by the amount of water being shed from my body/people’s bodies. Like an irrigation canal. My pants are DRIPPING POOLS OF SWEAT! I sat on the mat and it looked like there was a small pool of water there! I moved to a bench and as I sat there, a river of water came continuously pouring out of my pant legs like there was a secret spout in there! Times I’ve taken classes, and dudes are shirtless, covered in sweat, all pants are soaked, floors are completely slippery, with pools of sweat everywhere…it’s crazy! We have our own slip and slide.

Love,

Kristina
