USPA Old Skool Iron Meet Recap…I crushed it!

Oh man, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Yes, there were some things I could have done better. But overall, I was happy with my performance. In a nutshell, I broke the national squat record, the national bench press record, and the national overall total record, PLUS I won the Best Lifter award, and it feels so awesome to get that honor and validation. My hard work paid off! ::::contented sighs:::

Well, where should I start… I guess I’ll start ...

Promise Yourself

Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing

To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your ...

Not going crazy in Argentina

I have a confession. These past few weeks I have been struggling about Argentina. Stomach churning with anxiety, mind swimming. Wondering. Questioning. Doubting. Catastrophizing.

I have been on such an awesome, strict diet. Calculating, excel spreadsheeting, cooking, weighing, measuring, portioning, Tupperware-ing. Going to the gym, getting in my sleep, keeping to myself, staying focused, staying in my routine.

…Then to think of going on a trip, where I will not have the same routine, sometimes I will not have control over my food, ...

Ask yourself WHY do I want to eat?

If you are experiencing an emotion, and feeling emotional hunger…a desire, an urge, a dissatisfaction, a need, a wanting…
eating food will never fill you up…
eating food will never satisfy that emotional hunger…

The nourishment you need is EMOTIONAL, not physical…

Getting to the root of the underlying emotion is key to ending the cycle…

Using food to address an emotional issue is not a resolution…

it merely allows distraction and temporary drowning of the emotion, so the emotion will  resurface… and the ...

Gratitude

There is always, always something to be thankful for

From Psychology Today:

“Experiencing and expressing gratitude is an important part of any spiritual practice.  It opens the heart and activates positive emotion centers in the brain.  Regular practice of gratitude can change the way our brain neurons fire into more positive automatic patterns. The positive emotions we evoke can soothe distress and broaden our thinking ...

In Awe: Dana Linn Bailey

Just a peek into what is to come in my future!

No, I am not (YET) an IFBB pro, so my competition as an amateur will not be as difficult as THIS, but here is a peek into the world of physique if you don’t know what it is….I’ve done figure before, but physique involves a more muscular look of the body (though not as muscular as bodybuilding), a different set of poses…and NO HEELS! YAY 😉

I love the look of ...

2014 is going to be a great year

I know this is a little overdue in posting, but I wanted to share with you guys some of my 2014 “promises” and what I’m doing now.

I’m ready to get back to competition this year, I want to dance more, explore new horizons, get a bit more out of my shell; it’s the revival of KRISTINA!

On the gym front, I have returned to powerlifting. I want to compete in June and break some more records, so I am training with ...
