Are You a Magic Seeker? ->By ChickenTuna

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

I. love. this. Great motivation! For me…and to spread to my clients! When they are quibbling about not seeing results after one workout and one clean meal…or people asking me about how effective L-Carnitine is or anything else…yet their diet is not 100%…I want to say “what’s the point??”…no supplement can counteract an inconsistent diet…Anyway, “ChickenTuna” has been a contributing member of BodySpace (associated with BodyBuilding.com) for many years now and her abs are more than memorable. Yes, I know some of you (esp. gals) would think her body is too much, but personally I think she looks phenomenal. And her message is fantastic. I came across this on her website and I MUST SHARE. Read this and remember this. Everyday.

ARE YOU A MAGIC SEEKER?

Are you trying to find the ‘right fat burner’ that will give you a fit body tomorrow while you are still enjoying your cakes, cookies, ice cream and pizza?

Are you looking for the ‘right exercise’ that will make a certain body part look perfect after just one session?

Are you not even concerned with exercise or eating right, and looking for a magical potion, book or scheme to lose weight and be fit?

Are you eating 5 or 6 small healthy meals a day but thinking there is a magical combination of food and eating times? …so after over analyzing food plans for months and months… you think maybe you need one less serving of carbs or an extra serving of protein and then you will wake up the next day with your dream body once you crack this crazy caper of finding the right magical nutrition combination that everyone is keeping secret from you?  Or maybe you’ve been eating right for an entire 3 days and you are wondering why your body hasn’t transformed yet.  There is no secret magical food combination.  In most cases of over analyzing and micro managing food plans, the problem is not the plan.. it’s YOU!  You are not following it or eating lots of crap in addition,  thinking ‘what difference will a little cookie or pizza make’ and you are sabotaging results.

Are you debating if you need to do your weight training in a full body work out style, or a body part split?  Or maybe overanalyzing whether you should do weights first or cardio first?   And once you figure out the right answer you will be in top shape after one session?  Either style workout is fine as long as you do it consistently.

Are you attempting to figure out if eating oatmeal is a better carb than brown rice?  If so, you are seriously seeking some magic.  It doesn’t matter, they are both good carbs to eat.

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, you are searching for magic and probably won’t reach your goals until you get real about being consistent, dedicated, and hard working all the time to reach your fitness goals over a long period of time, not 2 days.

Many people are in complete denial that exercising and eating right consistently is required to be fit.   Most problems happen when people are looking for  a scheme to eat all the food they love and also have the best looking body possible.  It comes down to a choice.   I know if I were eating crappy foods I love everyday ( like peanut butter cheesecake) I would not have a fit looking body and would not be happy about that, and nobody would be surfing into my website to find out about being fit because I would be in terrible shape.

Magical exercises don’t exist.  Magical routines do not exist.   If legs are your weak spot, do LEG exercises. Make sense?  If arms are what you want to focus on… do ARM exercises.  If any magic happens, it is when you do your workouts consistently, when you work HARD while working out, and  when you eat right all the time.  There is no magical routine.   Regardless of all the exercising you do, you will no see any defined muscles or have that ‘toned’ look unless you lower your bodyfat.

Magical food combinations don’t exist… All you can do is eat the proper amount of food for your goals and eliminate the wrong food.  Nutrition and workouts can always be improved, but there is no magic formula.   If you want to see any magic happen, stop eating crap for a few weeks and you’ll be amazed.

Progress takes time and only happens when you are consistent,  so don’t give up.

Advice for Success

1.  When you don’t feel like doing your workout, do it anyway.  You’ll feel better afterwards.

2.  When you feel like eating pizza for dinner, eat grilled chicken instead, you will survive.  You’ll feel great about your choice the next day.

3.  Keep doing the above every week consistently.  Consistency is KEY.

You can  keep  searching, hoping and praying there is magical potion, scheme, or pill to get you where you want to be, but you’ll just keep spinning your wheels.  You already know what you need to do… put down the crap and you won’t be wondering where your results are because you will see them for yourself.

It would be really nice if you could go out buy some cream, rub it on your ass, and get rid of cellulite… but its just not going to happen that way.  Cellulite goes away as your bodyfat goes down by eating right and exercising consistently.

Why is this section here?  Because over the past 17 years while I’ve been struggling each week to squeeze in my workouts on a regular basis, and say no thank you to all the junk food that is offered to me each day… I have seen many people around me try every scheme possible, (anything but eating right and exercising)  from pills to crazy diet schemes, and I have yet to see anyone ever have any success or achieve becoming fit that way.

Please do not write me and ask me about taking pills or any secrets or tips.. if you do, you really don’t get it.  Get yourself a big serving of hard work and sacrifice, swallow it down, and digest it.

>>Awesome, right?! Absolutely perfectly well said, IMO. How do you feel about this?

Letting Go

Monday, March 7th, 2011

I have been reading The Wise Heart: A Guide to the Universal Teachings of Buddhist Philosophy by Jack Kornfield, and I want to share with you some passages from Chapter 16: “Suffering and Letting Go” that really struck me.

wiseheart

…A reporter once pressed the Dalai Lama about his opt-quoted statement that he does not hate the Chinese Communists, in spite of their systematic destruction of Tibet. In reply, the Dalai Lama explained, “They have taken over Tibet, destroyed our temples, burned our sacred texts, ruined our communities, and taken away our freedom. They have taken too much. Why should I let them also take my peace of mind?” Because he had learned to let go, the Dalai Lama can work more freely to create a better future for Tibet. He knows that clinging to suffering is not the way…

..In Buddhist Asia [as well as in the West], popular culture mischaracterizes nirvana, imagining it as a heavenly realm where old monks go after many lifetimes’ work of purity and self-denial…[we should] look for nirvana in the simplest ways, in everyday moments. “Nirvana,” he would say, “is the coolness of letting go, the inherent delight in experience when there is no grasping or resistance to life. It is always available.”…We know how to do this. We love to let go of the world at night when we go to sleep. Letting go and having a good night’s sleep is delicious. Letting go while we are awake is delicious, too…

…When we let go of being the one who suffers, we are free to bring blessings wherever we go…

Soulful Nutrition

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

I was browsing through a magazine tonight and read an article about heart health…But then there was this emotional piece that resonated with me.

“When it comes to food choices, habit is stupendously powerful. Our familiar foods give us comfort, reassurance, and a sense of identity. They are there for us when the world may not be. They can be our best friends, loyal and true. It does not take much effort or creativity to do the same thing over and over again. There is ease and relaxation in doing what we have always done. And if our habits are continually reinforced by the society around us, they can become even more powerful and alluring.

On the other hand, it does take effort to question whether our conventional ways of thinking and acting truly serve us. It takes effort to ask whether our lives are in alignment with the prayers and deeper purposes of our hearts, It takes effort to consciously make choices that deviate from the cultural norms, yet bring us closer to our wholeness and true health.”

I have definitely fallen victim to using food as more than fuel. In loneliness, I have turned to food, as if it were a friend! Lost, I have turned to it as if it gives me purpose! Conversely, being mindful and curious lets us recognize that there are deeper issues that we need to confront. What is my heart really saying? What does my soul want? Sometimes, we have to act differently from others to do what we know is right. Several clients have told me about friends who are bad influences, and their friendships take place over myriad alcoholic beverages and fried foods at fast food restaurants. I tell them that they need to be a force of change, or abandon those friends for ones who support a healthy lifestyle. Personally, I thought of my trip to Thailand when I read the second paragraph I quoted above. Not everyone was the most supportive of my trip, and some were even discouraging me from going. But in my heart I knew it was the right thing, even if it was a somewhat “crazy” thing in some people’s eyes to take off for two months. But I knew that I was demonstrating courage by deviating from the conventional paths and do something that I felt would serve me. And this in turn would allow me to better serve others. Anyway, I liked this passage and wanted to share it with you for your own food for thought and for you to reflect on your own nutritional habits that may or may not serve you, and how it is reinforced perhaps by cultural norms. Furthermore, how does this analogy extend into your personal life and do you make choices that may not be in line with standard moires, but that you know are bringing you closer to your purpose and mental & physical health.

Post-Thailand & First Official Jiu jitsu Tournament

Friday, February 11th, 2011

It’s been two weeks and 6 days since I left Thailand.

I left Thailand and had a long layover in Korea, where I was privileged enough to explore some of Seoul with Adam of SEE Adam Train. :)

After that, next stop was California and I was surprised to not experience horrible culture shock, jet lag, or existential malaise upon arrival.

I felt remarkably refreshed and hopeful. The fast lifestyle and stress has slowly been creeping back into my life, but I do feel an improvement overall in my quality of life. My trip was a success. Button was reset.

ToBeUsedTrail

I am continuing to attend jiu jitsu classes, and just received confirmation of my registration to compete at Jiu Jitsu By The Bay on Saturday, February 26th.

sergio-flyer-2

My first official jiu jitsu tournament- wooo!!!! I’m a little nervous to compete against others with up to 18 months of experience (one is eligible in my bracket to compete with 0-18 months of experience, though Omar told me a lot of people “sandbag” by asserting that they have less experience than they do, so they can win the bracket), but I know I will enjoy my experience win, lose, or draw! Though I plan to win! ;)

Here’s life post-Thailand: I’m ecstatic to share that business is going fabulous, and I feel extremely healthy, fit, and strong. It’s great to be able to feel so confident in these bold statements! I’m in grad school, which is NOT sucking my soul dry. Of course, there are other pieces of the puzzle that are not yet in place…For now, I am still figuring out a post-Thailand life, but relishing feeling a greater sense of health and peace.

I’m also excited by takedowns and armbars.

Every Love Can Be Merciless

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Yes, lovelies, it’s that all-too-infrequent time to update the bloggie. Sorry! I love you!! ;)

Exercise

As far as exercise has been concerned (of course I must start with the most important topic LOL), I have been unable to train in muay thai and jiu jitsu due to my toe healing. It was only recently that I started to feel comfortable enough to even box with it (e.g. have to be a bit light on the toes and pivot on the toe during the left hook)…So for the first few weeks I reverted back to strength training and made some great strength gains, then I shockingly became unmotivated by strength training. These past few weeks all I have been doing is elliptical and boxing. Who am I, right?!    heh…That’s just how it is.

Emotion

The power of love is cataclysmic. I don’t know why- the song by Rihanna comes to mind. The chorus in particular gives me goosebumps!

~~Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world…
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man

Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only one…~~

The song makes me want to rip my heart out of my chest and smush it in long arm strokes across the floor, jump into the shimmering blood trail like a pool and open myself up like a big “X” and fall deep into a long well, hair whipping at my face as I careen millions of light years down and down through different landscapes….nice description right? Basically, the lyrics remind me of how deep and visceral the connection between two people is, and there is nothing like two people who love one another and I want to meet the one that is meant for me and I am meant for him. I want to be one of the 50 million gazillion girls in the world to feel like they are the only one ;)

(the song is below, sorry the vid has an ad before it starts)

Thailand

To clear my head, I’ve decided to pack up shop and (temporarily) move to Thailand.

400px-Southern_thailand_regions_map

I’m getting rid of my apartment and trying to get rid of as many things as possible. E.g. if I’ve borrowed anything from anyone, (books, clothes, whatever), I’m returning them. Things I don’t need, I’m giving away (art supplies [sadly], books, clothes, etc). I want no strings attached. The only hesitation is my personal training business, which is going great. I feel bad to leave my clients…They can survive for a month without me…but longer than that, I jeopardize my business…I really want to train MMA, especially taking advantage of the Muay Thai training over there. BUT. My toe needs to heal. I am giving it a few more weeks of just boxing/strength training (not running, kicking, unpredictable movement like in jiu jitsu, etc) and hopefully by the time I go to Thailand, my toe will be able to tolerate it. If my toe is not ready, I will still go and will visit the Buddhist temples, meditate in the presence of blazing saffron-clad monks, see the sights, breathe in the air from the other side of the world, dig my fingertips and feet into the sand, and re-center…

I'm going here!!!!

I'm going here!!!!

So I’m excited.

Fighting

I really would love love LOVE to train over there, it would be the ultimate. I had only been training here for about a month before my toe broke, so it’s almost like I would go there untrained! ;) Regarding boxing, which is the only thing I’ve been able to do with my toe, here is the update:

  • my footwork is uncoordinated and definitely feels foreign
  • I need to pivot my left foot and hip a lot more when I throw a left hook
  • I need to keep my chin down
  • I need to stop telegraphing my right cross
  • Etc etc…
  • On the positive side, at least I’ve been practicing it, so in small ways I’ve gotten better I’m sure in many ways I don’t know. One good thing I can say is that I can actually HIT the double-end bag now! Woo! I used to never be able to catch that thing and was soooo frustrated but now I can hit it! Yipee!

Fighting is on my brain! I just finished reading “A Fighter’s Heart” by Sam Sheridan.

a fighters heart

I really enjoyed it! I’d like to share with you a few passages that resonated with me..p. 336

“The person agreeing to fight you is doing you a great service, allowing you to test yourself against him or her; they agree to abide by the same rules, to meet you on an exact date in a specified location. The opponent allows you to strive fully, without reservation, and you do the same for him (or her). When you think about it, fighting in a ring is incredibly civilized. We’ll try to kill each other, but we agree to stop the instant the other wants to, or is hurt, we’ll shut down all the killer instincts inside us the moment we feel a tap on the leg. The embrace after a fight is not false, or forced, it’s respect and gratitude….someone has agreed to fight you has agreed to serve as part of your test, your struggle for knowledge, your quest to make yourself better.”

Why do we do something that hurts us? We love it! And as we established, in the words of Sam Sheridan (p. 344) -->

EVERY LOVE CAN BE MERCILESS.

Zig Zag

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Well, my beauties, where do I start? So much has happened!

I guess I’ll just start by sharing a bit about my trip to the world famous OLYMPIA! I was very excited! I did NOT successfully get to gush effusively to Tanji Johnson (my favorite fitness competitor) but I did see plenty of eye candy (though none that seriously caught my eye, maybe I’m blind), and I was so excited to see all the famous fitness models! My favorite sightings were Jessica Putnam

jessicaputnam

as well as Aubrie Richeson!!! ;) The funny thing is- she is on my Freestyle Fitness Addiction PAMPHLET!!!!

FFApamphlett

I TOTALLY wanted to show her the pamphlet, but alas I didn’t have any on me!!! ;) She was sweet as pie. It was also good to see my girl friend Sasha, who is a figure champion and my jiu jitsu partner in crime!

sashaandmeolympia2

I look like a ghost next to her!

All in all, it was an inspiring trip to see these AMAZING physiques live and in person- and they look just as amazing in person as in the magazines! It was great to see :)

Okay, moving on. The BIGGEST, most exciting shift has been fight training, which utterly swept me up! Before, I was planning on figure or fitness or both and bodybuilding and strength training, lifting weights, etc etc etc…Now, my dreams are filled with kicking, coordinated reflexes, functional physiques, punches, sweeps, submissions, and quick eyes, predicting and responding to movements that I am totally incapable of seeing or knowing now!!! I am stunned and admiring of the things that experienced fighters can discern which my eyes are too slow and inexperienced to perceive at the moment. I love the development of reflexes and the patterns that fighters know…that is unknown or hieroglyphic to me at best. I love new challenges and somehow I got wrapped up in this one…As an athlete, I love that this focuses on more than the physique and I can let out my feisty nature here. Not that I’m not completely in love with the figure competitor body, but my thoughts and passions have somehow crashed down in the fight gym….

I have started to shift my training style because honestly I was lifting 6 days a week with very little cardio. Upon starting fight training, though, I was super gassed and sick of feeling that way so I decided to decease my strength training workouts and increase my cardio as well as skills/sport-specific training (e.g. take more classes). This is what I want to do…so fun…loving it!…focusing…

And here comes the ZIG ZAG. Thursday I ummm I stubbed my pinkie toe. It didn’t even hurt. But later it started turning purple and started hurting.

(shiny from arnica lotion)

(shiny from arnica lotion)

Friday I went to the doctor and she x-rayed it and said it was fractured. Are you serious?! She says it takes 6 weeks for a fracture to heal. Until then, avoid things that will cause displacement or anything to prolong the recovery time e.g. no running, no things on my toes, no kicks, no fun times…

So…the excitement that I was feeling…I am quelching it. The irony is that I CAN lift weights and can’t do cardio at the moment (except the armbike)….so in essence I can revert to the routine I was on a few months ago!! But that’s not what I want!!! LOL. Ah, the universe is interesting, isn’t it?  I find solace in a quote I saw on Facebook the other day:

“See each disappointment not as a negative thing, but as a gift from the Uni-verse preventing you from going down the wrong path. We think we know what we want, but very rarely do we actually know what we need.” — Mastin Kipp

So…I guess it wasn’t meant. But I do kind of feel like an excited puppy eager to race and jump, and being yanked back by my leash…Struggling…

Nodog

I want to PLAYYYYY!!!!

um just a weird pic to make you feel uncomfortable okay divert eyes move on

I want to play!!! heeeeee

I said I want to PLAYY!!! heeeeee ;)

Stuff is crazy right now with the conflation of education, demands of work (necessary), challenge of undertaking a new physical art form, and now this irritatingly minor yet significant injury…I need love, yo! This girl needs YOU! >>>Have you ever had a fractured toe? How long did it take to heal? Have you done any major training changes lately? Do you practice any type of martial arts? Any new exciting products or recipes?? (I have been totally loving Arctic Zero, that Alyson got me into!) Leave me a comment and/or hit me up at Kristina@FreestyleFitnessAddiction.com.  Much <3 ~K

Time Management Reflection

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

My client just lent me a book called Fantastic Voyage by Ray Kurzweil and Terry Grossman. It was quite an odd yet interesting book about the science behind “radical life extension”- the point being extending your life long now so you can make it to the point where technology can assist us to live forever. Personally, I don’t know if I would WANT to live forever?! But, I read the book focusing on their recommendations of what promotes an outstanding level of health for the present ;)

Check this link out for their “Short Guide to a Long Life.”

I started this post not intended as a book review, but because on one of the last pages of the book, I came across something that struck me and I wanted to pass it along.

Lately- well, probably often- I struggle with time management. I strive to be happy, joyful, sane, and potentially spontaneous.

ToBeUsedTrail

So when I came across this item, it made me think. This is not an exercise I have done before. But seems very practical and helpful! The suggestion comes in Chapter 23 on “Stress and Balance.” The authors state “We can always find reasons to feel stressed, but the predominant source of stress in our lives is internally generated…It is an oversimplification to say that stress is bad for you. In many circumstances, certain forms of stress can be very damaging to one’s health.” They offer certain suggestions to reduce stress and promote balance in one’s life, one of which is good time management.

Without further ado, ladies and gents, here is their piece on time management: “How you spend your time reflects your priorities. As an exercise, write down your priorities in terms of work, family, friends, exercise, sports, relaxation, and so on. Then, for the following week, write down how you actually spend your time. How does your time management reflect an optimal and comfortable balance between work, family/friends, and self? With all the pressures of modern life, it is easy for your allocation of time to stray substantially from what you desire, and also from what is healthy. If you find a discrepancy, consider how you would prefer your time be spent, then develop a strategy for making the change. It’s often not possible to make significant changes overnight After all, you have responsibilities and obligations that cannot just be dropped. But with a well-thought-out plan, most people have a greater ability to control their destiny, not to mention their daily schedule, than they realize….Also, leave time free for problems and opportunities that arise. An overscheduled life does not leave time for spontaneity…”

Good stuff, eh? It makes me reflect- what is the discrepancy between what I would assert are my valued proportions for my activities versus my actual time spent? How am I doing now? Hopefully you also found this good fodder for self-analysis.

Hello lovelies!

I have been on the go lately, but feeling pretty good. I am still adapting to my new life, and this book I got called My Miracle Manifestation Manual by Jacquelyn Aldana has been helping me!

manifestationmanual

It guarantees “substantial improvement in your sense of well-being after faithfully doing your 15-Minute Miracle in writing for at least 21 out of 30 days.” Cute, isn’t it? So far, I have diligently filled it out on 7 of the last 8 days- and have already had some positive results ;) It’s a workbook where you fill in the blank, and it actually has 63+ days to fill out, so I’m eager to see where I am after 21, 30, or 60 days…The language is COMPLETELY over the top, but I seriously LOVE it. It is just SO over the top, that it brings a smile to my face. Each day, you fill out: (mind you, I am typing the basics from the printed workbook, so the workbook is a bit more comprehensive, but you get the idea)

Clean your slate: Today, _______, is a clean slate for me to enjoy.

Claim your POWER: As long as I can CHOOSE my thoughts, I can CHOOSE what I attract and create in my life.

Create a clear intention: Starting today, my ongoing intention is to find _______ ways to ____.

3. Play wildly in your imagination and picture yourself living the “Life of Your Dreams” as though it were already so:

Signed the Magnificent __________ Date _______

Declare with conviction: “I am an ‘Irresistible Magnet for Love, Money, Miracles, and More.’ It’s just the story of my life!”

Listen as Life exclaims: “You’re RIGHT, Magnificent One! Let me show you more evidence of how RIGHT you are!”

Ahhh…so over the top yet totally positive and DELIGHTFUL and AMAZING right?!?! I just love all the enthusiastic language…So that is what I have been working on (almost) daily. Each entry takes me about 30 minutes. They say it can only take 15 minutes, but I think that’s only if you fill out steps 1-3 and sign it (the “bare bones”). I have been filling out ALL the steps and signing…It’s been helpful.

In other news, let’s talk about nutrition on the GO. Because, as I recounted in an earlier post, I have not been spending as much time at home, so it has been a bit more a struggle to eat healthy foods that I would prefer, as sometimes I am not compelled to pack my food for ALL DAY in a cooler, as it seems the freezer pack seems to be melted by afternoon-ish so foods don’t seem so fresh. I just ran out of my Jay Robb protein packets, and now I need to re-up!!! The peeps at Jay Robb were really awesome and sent me a whole package of different protein powders for me to try!!! In fact, they delighted me with a few different protein bars (dangerously delicious, um I may or may not have eaten more than the recommended serving….) and a cool bag that I ROCKED for all of a few days until it broke (sad, but it inspired me to make my OWN bag off of Zazzle, so now I rock my own Freestyle Fitness Addiction bag, woo ha ha), and the protein powders lasted me a WHILE! They sent me an assortment of flavors of brown rice, egg white, and whey protein powders.

JayRobb

I must say that I had never had brown rice protein powders, and they were all pretty grody in terms of taste/texture. Maybe because I am so used to whey, but it just seemed really gritty. The egg white protein powders were very palatable, similar to whey. My favorites, though, were the whey protein powders. All the powders were SO convenient, as I would leave a few packets in my car, and once I was done sweating my ass off in boxing or kickboxing, and my muscles need that fast-acting nourishment, bam, I would pour a packet into my shaker bottle and consume a tasty and healthy protein drink of approximately 24 grams of protein, 1 g carb, and 0 g fat! Nice stats, eh? And they are free of artificial sweeteners, gluten free, and from grass-fed cows- niiiceee! Also, they come in very unique flavors like PINA COLADA! I’m all over that, son. I need to go to the Vitamin Shoppe and buy some more!

I have an exciting nutritional experiment I will embark on in a few days…will keep you posted!

That’s all for now, kiddies.

What do you think of the idea of “My Miracle Manifestation Manual”? What has helped you in transitional periods for you?

Do you like brown rice protein or egg white protein? Jay Robb protein?

Much love <3 <3

I wrote an article called “Reach Your Goals With Your Own Vision Board.” It starts:

“This shift in mental posture aligns you more precisely with your goals. Once you decide that something is a priority, you give it tremendous emotional intensity, and by continually focusing on it, any resource that supports its attainment will eventually become clear.” ~Tony Robbins, best-selling motivational author and speaker

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become” ~Buddha 562-483 B.C.

Many women as they struggle to reach their physique goals encounter obstacles to sabotage their efforts at every corner. If you are serious about achieving your fitness goals, one thing you can do to get an advantage is to create a vision board. A vision board is a collage of images and/or words that are assembled to represent your deepest goals and dreams. The purpose of the vision board is to constantly keep your goals in mind, thereby activating the Law of Attraction and attracting the goals you desire so that the images turn from 2-D into a reality you manifest.

The vision board provides the bridge from imagination to reality. You are creating a tangible representation of your thoughts into something you can see and touch. This is a powerful step in manifesting your goals. When you see your board again and again, by placing it in a location conspicuous for you, you are constantly affirming and projecting your desires, which takes it a step further. Your mind is a magnet that draws closer the things you think about. This is the basic tenet of the Law of Attraction. You attract into your life anything that you give attention to, whether it is positive or negative. By focusing on your goals you draw them closer and closer, and you will find that people and circumstances arise that will assist you in achieving your goals.  Part of the science behind the phenomenon is the brain’s Reticular Activating System, which filters through the endless data input and decides which messages receive top priority. By consciously focusing on your goals, your brain is given the task to become aware of related matters and needed resources with which to realize your goals.
