Day 16/90 Heated Vinyasa Class

Today I tried a (slightly) heated vinyasa class at Yoga at Cindy’s. I was still extremely terrible and flexible. And…strangely…weak. I am not used to holding myself in the positions specified, so ish was hard. As I was trembling and awkward, the teacher said “Find your joy!”

ummm…yeah.

I actually bought my first yoga mat (off Amazon) so I can stop renting mats. I bought a squishy one to cushion my knees. I now realize it makes for much more difficult balancing. ...

Day 14/90 I saw a healer ;)

Today I saw a healer πŸ˜‰

I feel pretty relaxed.

It kind of started when my sister started getting into crystals and crystal healing, and it made me feel intrigued to try crystal healing.

So, what did I do? I went on YELP. Yes, I yelped a healer.

I looked at my options and chose the one whose website and services and feel I liked the best. I reached out, we set it up, and today was the day.

She was very kind, and we ...

Day 13/90 The Five Love Languages

When I think of Β “speaking from the heart,” love languages is an associated tangent. Gary Chapman wrote a book in 1995 called The Five Love Languages, where he describes the ways that individuals express and experience love.

1) gifts

material objects, things, tokens of love and affection

2) quality time

the amount of time that you are with a loved person, sharing activities, whether it’s outside excursions, or being lazy around the house ...

Day 12/90 The Healing Power of Simply Being

by Mary O’Malley

from here

“Underneath all of the busyness in our lives, what we truly long for is to just be. Even though it is one of the most profound things a human being can do, most of us don’t know how to be. Our minds are usually planning what is going to happen, rehashing what did happen, and struggling with everything else in between. We love to acquire and do, fix and ...

Day 10/90 The Guest House by Rumi

THE GUEST HOUSE

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, ...

Day 9/90 I made a painting

Today I dropped in to an art studio in Redwood City and used their supplies.

My painting was all acrylic, until I decided to add some sharpee. So, it’s acrylics and sharpee.

I love art, it’s a very engrossing activity. I lose myself for a few hours, and feel peaceful and accomplished at the end.

I think I made a self portrait.

Day 8/90 Yin Yang

Yin-Yang means shadow and light and describes how opposites are interconnected and interdependent. They work together to form a whole. Everything has both yin and yang aspects.

In the words of my favorite linguist Saussure: meaning is derived through opposition.

How could lightness be understood without darkness? How could shadow exist without light?

Day 7/90 tried Tai Chi

I feel my hardcore energy is so strong, but my relaxation energy is so weak, so I decided to try Tai Chi so see how I like it.

It was held at a school in Los Altos, and I wandered around the building until I came across a patio area where a few people were. It looked like the spot.

It helped that it was a gorgeous day. Lately the weather has been blah.

This teacher was this old white dude, but pretty ...
